Stories Matter

Growing up in a family that emphasized the importance of the written word, I realized at a very young age that stories, books and reading matter.

The stories and books I have read through the years opened the world of words, ideas, imagination, and creativity within me. To this day, I enjoy a good story, and fill (sometimes to overflowing) my bookshelves with books. I am a story and book lover!

Co-authoring the "Little Lucy Ladybug - Where Are My Spots?" book with Judy Cunningham has brought me much joy as I imagine children of all ages, young and old, reading about Little Lucy's search for her spots, and learning important life lessons in the process.

Little Lucy is a product of my imagination, as are Judy's whimsical watercolor illustrations. Imagination and creativity are a wonderful reality for Judy and I, and our storytelling partnership is not only fun, but rewarding.

Stories matter to me, and I believe they are what dreams are made of . . . "Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. Dreams are forever."

-Walt Disney

As Albert Einstein said, "Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."

I have created a long list of quotes by writers as inspiration for me, a new storyteller. and the following are a few of my favorites . . .

"A book is a dream that you hold in your hands." -Neil Gaiman

"Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere." -Mary Schmich

"Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book."

-Jane Smiley

"Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again." -C.S. Lewis

"Through reading stories we discover the world, and through writing we discover ourselves." -Unknown

How about you? Do stories matter to you? I would enjoy hearing from you, so please share your thoughts on our Contact page.

HAPPY READING!
